Schopenhauer's Atheism - The Negation of the Will

Schopenhauer argued that the existence of a person's life is meaningful in a teleological sense. In buddhism, achieving narvana can be translated as extinguishment of all desire and clinging. The idea that an individual could stop their craving, stop desiring, stop willing may be a kind of salvation for mankind. Schopenhauer was influenced by this religious ideal coming from the east.
