The History of Sexuality, Volume Two, Is a Distinguishment Between Sex and Erotics
i think separating this notion of sexuality as a term that encompasses all the ways in which we are taught to understand what it is to desire. All those things come about at certain moments in history, as we have already said, as the result o certain sort of scientific and political moments. i think there's something quite utopian about fuco's imaginings of what pleasure might look like outside of sexuality. In our western moment, yes, not really possible to have that kind of pure pleasure outside of an understanding of sexuality that's formed by these discourses stear. It's precisely the understandingtha that armature creates a notion of sexuality that leaves things out.
