The word weird originally had this idea of cosmic order, what brings order into the world and meaning and justice. But now to us, moderns, weird means the absence of sense or meaning. And so our strategy is to call those things "weird" in a way that defines them as having no meaning at all. We're talking about something we're talking about is God, that God is the ultimate weird entity, the ultimate weirdo.
