Is Consciousness a Good Idea?

There's no way you can do science on private, ineffable, intrinsic properties like that. Our awareness of the world is colored by our reactions to it,. And so illusionists say, stop thinking of consciousness in that way. Stop creating an insoluble problem for yourself. They say consciousness doesn't involve awareness of private mental qualities. It involves awareness of features of the world and our own reactions to them.
