What Are You Seeing in the Latest Flu and RSV Data, Mike?
Flu and RSV are continuing to play out exactly as I predicted over the last several episodes. Flu hospitalizations have continued to drop dramatically with the hospitalization rate during the week ending on January 14th over three-fold lower than it was the week before. We saw health care systems across the country push to their breaking point trying to keep up with an ordinary number of seasonal flu cases because of staffing shortages, burnout and lack of available beds. The influenza numbers haven't changed, but the capacity of our health care system has.
