Holland Martin, they're not going to be deterred. This is gypsum country after all. Hall had the block shipped to a German stone cutter in Chicago named Edward Burghart. Burghart agreed to keep mum on the whole scam if they cut him in on the profit. He hired two sculptors to assist with the project and then he whole himself posed for the statue.
