Colored was basically like old people trying to use slang. It was so out of touch. Customers hated colored fancy. So Mattel quickly introduced Barbie's African American friend, Christy and they did a much better job with Christy. Despite her constant presence in the Barbie universe, notably is the only major Barbie universe player who does not have her own Wikipedia page.
