The mob in Nazareth wanted to throw Jesus off a cliff. He was doing the very best possible thing anyone could ever do, and he's going to be punished because he's so good. All of these experiences are simply placeholder symbols for the ultimate sacrifice that Jesus Christ is going to make at the end of his ministry.
