The Distinction Between Momentary Pleasure and Forward Looking Pleasure

I feel like there's a really important distinction to be made that isn't made between momentary pleasure and forward looking pleasure. I had a book on the Handbook of Eudaimonic Well-Being and I was able to write a little chapter in there to try to articulate some of these ideas. To me then, meaning is a lot about durability. It's a lot about sustaining effort towards becoming the type of person that co-exists really positively with other people over time. And that's not to say that someone who's super oriented towards meaning can't ever do anything fun.
