Does Money Make You Happy?
Research suggests that over a certain amount, when you've got basic needs fulfilled, actually doesn't really add to happiness. So even if they're swigging champagne on a yacht, I should probably feel sorry for them because I'm technically richer. And so what happened in positive psychology is it shifted from mood to meaning. Even banking, you might say, well, I'm supporting commerce and providing employment and so on but if they can't see that meaning, that's not going to be a recipe for contentment or happiness.
