The War of Agamemnon and Achilles
In the Iliad, Agamemnon's troops have offended Artemis by killing a pregnant hair. Calcus, the fleet's priest, advises him that his sacrifice is needed to get up a wind. In Euripides' version, just as Ifa-Jania is to be sacrificed, Artemis substitutes an illusionary IfA-Jania and goes off with the real Ifa- Jania. The Greeks are just as much interested in the enemy as in their own troops,. They describe them with dignity and compassion and appreciation.
