The Importance of Pig Iron
Pig iron is a low quality metal that cannot really be used for anything. People would do things like they would look for tools utensils, doorknobs, shovels,. literally any kind of tool that you could imagine that had metal. They were taking it, breaking it down, burning the handle for fuel, and throwing the tip of the shovel in there so that they could smelt it in steel.
