Is There a Trade-Off?
There just seems to be this assumption that general-purpose processes in and of themselves are lower cost than customized. It's incredibly energy efficient compared to using X86. Why would buying an X86 be and running that? And as Colin just said, there are performance trade-offs as well. Yeah. So yeah, I've yet to be convinced, as I think you, buy those arguments, but they're not going to go away.
