The Man With a Glittering Eye
Coleridge suffered terribly from guilt. It was a guilt that would have paralysed him anything about it, because of his addiction. To some extentent, ill to do with leaving family and three children byt than too. He married her after having only met her for a couple of weeks,. And he never loved her, and he got even less in love with her as time went on. Poor woman. But yes, he left his family. He couldn't settle down to anything, and that is partly why he himself was the first to see himself, after the event, as the ancient mariner wandering the earth. The link with laudenam there, i suppose, is guilt
