The Bengali Literary Heritage
I would like to write in another language. You get sort of put into a box of kind of post-colonial fiction and therefore you're addressing post-colonial themes, which is not true necessarily. And if you're writing in Urdu or Bengali, you cannot be speaking for all of India, you're speaking for your street. The Bengal Renaissance, I identify with residential buildings, a kind of decay. Of course, Bengali's were nationalists. But when it came to their writing, they were exploring other things. They were rebelling against linearity.
