Sophia Vyostrass - A History of Mathematics

Sophia Kovelleskaya was the first woman mathematician to get a PhD in 19th century maths. She worked with Vyostrass and by 1874 had three papers ready for her doctorate. One of these, on partial differential equations, is now called the Koshy Kovellerskaya theorem. The great French mathematician Henri Poincare said she simplified his proof into its definitive form.
