I would go as far to say that certain denominations even especially the bigger ones Church of England have succumbed to a degree. People's identities often revolve around consumption or references to brands and things along with these lines are completely secular and materialist do you think that perhaps the the often the incompatibilities that when people look at is Islam? Well I suppose it's hard to generalize the Church of England as a broad church isn't it but one of the sharpest points of its own internal culture has been the judgment that is to be made about how much light in the enlightenment pushed back against authority of the church.
