The Disturbing Effects of Folk Teaching on Education
I was really surprised by that because like I taught actually history of calculus at one point when I first started teaching. And essentially the whole idea was we move past those kinds of clunky methods to get to better methods, right? And now here we had kids doing these as actual methods of calculation. It's kind of disturbing, you know, that this sort of thing is generally accepted and curricula and pedagogy literally gets changed in this way. We are up until recently still seeing almost anything as foolish as see astrology is in its own field.
