Celeste Burgess and her mother tried to self-manage an abortion in Nebraska. They were caught when police subpoenaed Facebook messages they had exchanged about the procedure. Celeste pled guilty to concealing or abandoning a dead body, but was not charged with any abortion crime now since Roe v. Wade is legal passed 12 weeks gestation. Her mom pleaded guilty to providing an illegal abortion, false reporting, and tampering with human skeletal remains; she is yet to be sentenced.
