The Congo is very wealthy if people were robots right and the soul determining factor of how wealthy your nation was was its natural resources. The Belgians hadn't expected to give up the Congo for a few decades yet had kind of been counting on having access to all of those minerals so what do they do when they suddenly lose control of the Congo we could take it back yeah? They send some mercenaries and some guns and they go to different tribal groups in a couple of provinces in the Congo and they're like you guys should really be your own country I've got all these nice sources in this province. And then two provinces secede from the Congo and a civil war begins.
