The Evolution of Moral Psychology
There is no psychologist that I know who would deny the influence of evolution. Breakthroughs in our understanding of human morality came directly from evolutionary theory. We are kind to our friends and we show gratitude towards them in resentment when we're cheated. And so we've developed not a sort of universal kindness, but a careful, conscious kindness.
