Roxanne Jones: Is it okay to get pigeonholed as a young black designer? She says she found her own voice in African diasporic research and design work. Jones: Some people are perfectly fine being identified as someone who does a singular thing at an expert level. If that's your goal, by all means, go for it. But if you want to be seen as just a general designer beyond just black spaces, then you have to seek out those opportunities too.
