The Rise of the National Oil Companies
When you're studying something that doesn't yet exist, you have to get creative. We saw this case of the big oil companies seeing their lunch eaten by the national oil companies. And so we got a little bit of inspiration to think about new types of intermediaries in the financial services industry. In our minds, a national oil company is quite different from a teacher's pension plan. But ultimately, you can learn about that process of weaning yourself off the intermediary and capturing more of the value in both cases.
