The Role of Race in Freemasonry
Prince Hall is largely responsible for forming a very strong community among free black people in the United States before slavery ended. Now, I don't know if that narrative is actually true or not, but black free masonry throughout the years and throughout the decades has been quite influential on the black community in the US. But what's interesting is there are definitely some critics of Prince Hall and Prince Hall Masonry. Some of the harshest critics, which might not surprise you, are the nation of Islam.
