Air Power and the Bomber Mafia

The bomber mafia were believers in the idea that you could do pinpoint bombing. They felt that they were departing quite dramatically from, uh, kind of conventional air power doctrine at the time. This was part of an intellectual tradition amongst airmen that goes far before the Second World War. So this concept of using air power as not just a way to change warfare, but maybe as a more humane development to warfare was something that was pinging.
