The Chalmers' study is an unfortunate example of statistical sampling, he says. To be a professional philosopher, you have to be trained in formal logic - something that almost nobody else does. But there are plenty of other fields where people would question the existence of expertise and yet where experts disagree fundamentally. Unless you're willing to say that there is no expertise in history or there isno expertise in political science, then it's not true.
