I love it does come back to belonging, just finding your tribe. I think the concept of normal or divergent has a connotation of prescriptive rather than descriptive. And we're social beings. So this relational space, if everything is being built anew every time we interact, that makes relating to other people hard. When someone does throw you for a loop, then making connections with other people is more challenging. That's why I really like the word neurodiversity as a property of the human species.
