The Cephe Rot: The Ineffability of God

A group of rabbis in Provence is credited with creating the first fusion between Kabbalistic teachings and Jewish philosophical sources. They refer to God as Einsauf, the infinite, about which we can have no knowledge or speech. But they add a caveat that makes all the difference, namely that God also shows himself in the guise of the Cephe Rot. Like the names in Ibn Arabi, the Cep he rot do not just represent God to his creation but interrelate and even come into conflict.
