i went down a mine shaft with one of the miners in congo. It's an extraordinary experince, it's all just tunnelled out by hand or with shovels. You get down there, ad you're just crawling through these tiny chambers. The chances are quite high that yout you wiuld be killed an in a tunnel collapse. But congo is an extremely poor country, and that's what brings us to the bigger question. Why do children go down mines in the first place? And we need to think more carefully about how this can be addressed.
