What's the Connection Between Music and Art?

You have to experience the music or experience the art in order to have it be communicated to you. It's a little bit like the experience of looking out to a landscape that you've never seen before and then starting to pick out the things that are there. And that way, I think of a lot of great music is you have an idiom that is presented along the way that gets developed and you return to over and over again. So there's a kind of self-expression that comes out of it.
