Introduction
On February the 26th, 1848 there was a revolution in France. Within weeks up writings had begun in Germany and soon a wave of revolutions swept across Europe. But almost all of these rebellions failed, leaving many countries with their regimes even more oppressive than those they'd briefly shaken off. We are joined by Tim Blanning, Emeritus Professor of History at the University of Cambridge; and Mike Report, Senior Lecturer in History from the University of Stirling.
