It was, it was kind of accidental, in a way. It's related to a technique that they use in engineering where if you have a part that fails, you cut it in half to see why it failed. And i had a frequent counter that had stopped working and so i took it apart to try and figure out what went wrong - because i really liked what it looked like. And i found a tanalum capaciter inside that had failed. And it was a short circuit, which is how those tanalu capaciters often fail. So then i started taking some other components and cutting them in half and posting those pictures on twitter. And at some point people were like
