The Importance of Chinese Language Skills in My Career
In the 1990s and 2000 in China if you spoke Chinese that was good enough right but I know that's definitely changed today because it's going to take a lot more than just language skills or some of these roles. As soon as I finished up at Johns Hopkins at SAIS I entered the state department as an intelligence analyst looking at China and North Korea. The focus really shifted to me working on China North Korea rather than US China and so I was working much more closely with Korean analysts.
