The Supreme Court's Preoccupation With Religious Freedom
Court placed heavy emphasis on religious liberty, even when countervailing interest was to stop the spread of a deadly pandamic. Some rules adopted in california and in new york were not always as sensitive to religious observance as they were to other economic interests. Supreme court majority is very nervous about way that secular authorities are disrespecting the role of religion in our lives. And i think some of this relates to broader rhetoric you hear in the public about in all war on religion or a war on christianity.
