What Happens After the Arrival of the Methodist Missionaries?
Fui fui lupe nume tolu is a tongan scholar, community organizer and poet. She studies how this second wave of missionaries in the early 18 hundreds completely reshaped the islands culture. The methodists allined themselves with local chiefs and got involved in the islands conflicts. Unlike their predecessors, the methodists used these conflicts to their advantage by converting a single chief and then helping him to defeat his rivals.
