Big Star was a Memphis band that were not from New York or LA or London. They really invented a whole style of sort of Southern artsy boho cool, which has gone on to be a never ending cultural resource. Their influence is still felt in bands like REM and the teenage fan club. Big Star has a way of making you feel feelings you didn't know you had. It makes me think of times and everything and anything seem possible.
