What's the Right Career Path for Software Engineers?

I feel like now with all this online networking, internet stuff, efficiency is so key. I think a lot of post-grad education also entails a lot of research. So it's like if you're interested in researching a lot, especially for STEM topics, then it might be really worth it to consider the same thing as what your major was. It's right now I'm actually deciding whether to go to a med school, PhD, or both.
