i feel like it's not because i don't think the project is worth while or i can't contribute, but it's just that i personally don't have the time for it. So how do i get that message across without seeming like slacking or not a team player? I think what you have to do is try to add value in the conversation. Try to navigate the conversation in such a way that you you demonstrate what you can do,. And the best thing you can do usually is steer them to another resource....
