Is a Spoon Really a Snack?

Both the greek and latin words for spoon are derived from coclia, meaning a spiral shaped snail shell. The first spoons likely used found pieces of wood and especially shells. But then another question arises here: Is a shell really a spoon? Are we even if you take the shell and you attach it to a stick, you know, are we with things or functions? This is a question raised by polish linguist anna virsbeck of the australian national university in 20 14.
