Eric Liu: I was an entrepreneur in the software business. He says he wanted to run his own money, but got talked out of it by a M&A lawyer who said you're not qualified and don't know much about investing. After losing half of his net worth over six or seven years, Liu decided to become a full-time private investor. "I had a whole bunch of faulty assumptions about the investment business," LIu says.
