Simon Tisdall: Why did the Western kind of post-war social democratic left abandon, Keynesianism and basically allow neoliberalism to come in? He says it was a series of half steps that were gradually taking us further away from what was once good about the basic social democratic platform. The idea of intervention became increasingly problematic for the British left as they moved closer to 'negative conception of freedom', he adds.
