How to Accelerate Particles

How do we currently accelerate particles? Like how does an LHC exactly? How does it get particles moving so fast? Well, I don't know if that pun was intended or not, but we currently use electrical currents to accelerate particles. Or gravity, that was kind of an interesting idea. We definitely do use gravity, absolutely. And gravity does accelerate particles. But those are a little more difficult to control.
