Spanish National Police Breaking Up Polling Places in Catalona
CNN's John Defterios looks at the violent scenes in Barcelona during a referendum on independence. He says police broke into polling places, forcibly took ballot boxes and dragged people out of line to vote. The government tried to frighten those who were not used to facing that kind of forcible repression, he says. But it backfired when images of violence went viral around the world, defterios writes.
