The Batavia Breaks Apart

Cornelis was an educated literate man from an affluent family. He had been married and had a child, but the baby unfortunately died in its infancy. Cornelis survived by climbing the boat sprint at the fore of the ship and then clinging to it when it broke off and using it to float to land. The Batavia finally broke apart, forcing Cornelis to join the survivors on these islands.
