I Think the Reason That GPUs Are So Successful Is Because of the Interconnectedness of the GPUs
As a kid I have always kind of assumed that like well I don't know games must be embarrassingly parallel but they're not. The reason GPUs are so successful is because the very tail end is embarrassingly parallel. When you got this this interconnectedness it's very hard to accelerate in hardware. Sony was saying things like when you buy a PlayStation 3 if you're it'll talk to your refrigerator to get more processing power or it'll call your friends PlayStation down the street to get moreprocessing power.
