Can You Read the Captions?
If it was familiar, like they were familiar with the characters, the sub titleswhat was being talked about, the actual chinese learners looked at it less than the other language learners did. But if it was more unfamiliar, characters they didn't know or subject matter they weren't as familiar with, they spent more time looking at the captions. There are four reasons why people will lean upon captions. One reason is that it helps them to recognize words that they already know. And then the fourth one is, resolve ambiguity.
