Uber and Lyft are violating the same basic rule, which is when you make it easier for people to drive, or in this case, for people to book and call... To be in a car. Right. When parking is free, people drive more. And any transportation planner where there's salt can tell you that as well. Unless we build in some real price incentives for carpooling on these platforms, what's probably going to happen is that we're going to see an increase in the overall number of trips that people are taking.
