The Collector's Interest in Rolex GMT Master Watches
The original model of the Rolex GMT Master from 1960 used a plastic material called Bakelite for the piece that secures the watch face itself, what's called the bezel. It was basically a plastic material which just really didn't function very well, cracked, broke very easily. The interest has exploded since the 1990s when it began to become more popular.
