Is It My Way or the Highway?

The fear by whomever the party was or parties, maybe it's multi, multi factorial, the weaponization of fear directly against politicians was incredibly effective. You see these egregious contracts all over the world where nation states have basically forfeited the rights to certain assets like airports and harbors in order to purchase these products. These poor souls who have no background in science and medicine are suddenly placed in a position where they're told their populace is going to be decimated. It's really hard to reconcile those observations with the thesis that this has really just been about protecting public health.
