How Poetry and Song Lyrics Have Shaped My Life
A lot of our experience with poetry growing up comes from song lyrics, earliest on, probably pop song lyrics. I think when i was growing up, i don't think i started liking poetry until college. And then bigger picture, how poets are treated similarly to fan girls, like infantalized or made fun of. It gets really gendered as a foolish little thing. Part of it is due to the internad and twitter. The way text looks on instant room squares, and has just become like, more accessible. Must say, i think it's cool.
